Our last day at Our Chalet has come and gone. Tomorrow we move on to our next stop of Kandersteg.
We started the day with a trip to the chocolatier were we had a deminstration on how chocolate is made as well as free samples. Oh and we now all know the Caramilk secret.
After that the group split up with some goimg white water rafting and some going to Tremblebach Falls. Those of us who went to the falls followed it up with se shopping time in Interlaken. Om the way out we were very excited to see one of the clue boxes from The Amazing Race stored behind a building.
I'm going to keep this short as it's late and there's no sleeping in on this trip.

One Week Down
It's hard to believe that a whole week has passed since we gathered at the airport. I'm sitting in the courtyard with the girls waiting for the evening activities to begin. I'm also typing all this on the tiny keyboard of my phone so please excuse any errors.
Today we spent the day at the adventure park. After the girls had a lesson on the low ropes it was off to the zip line. I was really impressed that all the girls gave it a try even the ones scares of heights. And they all loved it. Next up was walking on some high ropes followed by abseiling off a rather high bridge. Finally was the scariest part of the day with the Pendulum Swing. A few brave girls actually stepped off a small platform on the sidebof bridge while strapped onto a rope.
Tomorrow we are off to Interlaken to visit a chocolatier (yum). Also we will either be white water rafting or a trip to Trummelback Falls. Depending which activity they chose.

Finally on the computer
Hi Everyone
Sorry it's taken me so long to get on the computer and blog. We've been so busy that last night was actually the first time I was awake enough and I missed buying my internet before the office closed.
It was a long trip here but we made it without any hiccups, except one suitcase malfunction, and didn't miss any of our transfers. The girls all walked up the mountain without any issues. I made it up, yahoo.
Our first day here was spent doing activities on site getting to know about the chalet and switzerland. Good thing too as some of us were a little jet lagged. Although the girls are way more resilient then this oldie.
Our second day, we did a hike to a ravine where the girls got to abseil (rappell) down. Most of the girls participated in this and had alot of fun. The 4 that didn't want to stayed at the top with Suz and I and had a nice time just chatting and joking around and enjoying the fresh swiss air. Once we were done there we had lunch by a nice river and then continued on to the wood carver. The woodcarver had lots of awesome wooden pieces. Beside the woodcarver is a little cafe that had amazing lemon bread and cold drinks.
Our third day, we took a hike to a gondola. The short hike was supposed to be 2 hours but I managed to stretch it to 3.5 hours. But the girls that took this option stuck with me and tell me they had a better time taking it slow and enjoying the scenery then just charging through. It was a brutal hike for me but all the girls made it without any trouble. It was the hardest hike we will be doing. (Thank goodness) Except for the overnight hike. At the top of the gondola there were a few different things to do. There was a man made lake that the girls could swim in. Some took a dip. It was a cloudy day with some sunny spots so when the clouds were out we were actually in them so it was quite chilly. But one of the Chalet Challenges was to dip in for 5 seconds. There was also a short walk to a glacier lake that they could take a dip in. I hear it was very cold. There was also a hike to the peak. Once we got down the gondola we were lucky to have busses waiting for us to take us back to the Chalet. Everyone was pretty tired when we got back and slept very well that night.
Yesterday we took a hike to Neissen and took a vernicular up the mountain. It took half hour to get up and we were actually above the clouds when we got there. That was a real neat experience. Fortunately, the clouds did clear a bit so we could check out the views. In the afternoon we took a boat ride to either a castle or to the town of Thun for shopping. I took Nadia, Jasmine, Holly, Tiffany, Emily and Tasha to the town for some shopping. Things are alot more expensive here in switzerland. But they managed to find some good deals amongst the expensive stuff. The rest of the group went to the castle and did a scavenger hunt that apparently was alot of fun. Last night we had a quiet night at the chalet except for Jasmine, Nadia, Holly, Cassandra and Bridget who braved the overnight hike. They should be back in a couple of hours and I'll try and let you know how it went. We think the weather actually cleared up so they would have had an amazing sunrise at the top of the mountain. Oh and Jessica did a twilight hike to some waterfalls but it wasn't a night hike so she got to sleep in her own bed.
Today is our free day. When they overnight hikers come back they will go to bed as they probably only had a couple hours sleep at the most. The rest of us are going into Adelboden after having a bit of a lazy morning. I think the girls are really enjoying just being able to relax. When we go to Adelboden there is another gondola we will be taking up another mountain. I did this same one when I was here 32 years ago and it has a great viewing platform at the top that can be accessed without any major hiking.
Tomorrow if our day at the adventure park and white water rafting. Or for those of us non swimmers, the adventure park and a trip to waterfalls. And get this, they have an elevator to take you to the top of the waterfalls. YAY.
Everyone is having a great if tiring time. I wish I had the energy these girls have. They are doing great with all the activity.
Next time I blog, I'll try and log on with my phone and post a couple of pictures. Not sure how that works but I'll try. If I can't figure it out, I'll at least go on facebook to post a couple of pictures so if you have facebook and can share with anyone who doesn't it would be great. And if you're not following me send me a friend request. Search for Deborah (Wolfe) Cameron.
